I want to start with coming clean. By some people definitely this meal won’t count as a hotdog. And fair enough, it is technically a sausage but at the end of the day do any of us like those knit-picky folks anyways? I’m just here to introduce you all to one of the best testing cased meat in a bun you’ll ever try.
Let’s start with a little history on this particular culinary masterpiece because it didn’t get its start in a stadium. No as a dream, a dream that became a brick and mortar restaurant, and eventually went on to the big leagues.
Remember this name ladies and gentleman because it’s the name of a legend. Hot Doug’s. You may not have heard of it yet but if you’ve living in Chicago or have your ear to the culinary ground then you’ve been well aware of this gem.
Hot Doug’s is a hot dog joint that prides it’s self in being the best. Well at least it did. It’s been closed for some years now. Doug, after years of lines around the block has moved onto to retirement. But lucky for us his creations live on.
At Wrigley field we snagged two of his brilliant concoctions, The Gene Clines, a spicy polish sausage with sweet and spicy mustard, caramelized onions, shredded cheddar cheese, and The Bill Bonham, an Atomic Pork Sausage with cherry marmalade and smoked gouda cheese.
Have you ever heard of two dogs so dressed up? Treated with such respect? Absolutely amazing.
Well you’ll have to go to a ballgame to actually try them but if you want the next best thing you can watch our review of them on Youtube.
